タッチザサウンドピクニックは音を触感として感じることで、聴覚によらない音の鑑賞方法を提案するデバイスです。音の聞き方を広く再定義することを目的とし「聴覚障害の有無を問わず、さわり心地で音の世界を探索する」というコンセプトで制作しました。
耳に頼らず「音に触れる」体験は、音の持つ意味を鑑賞者に問いかけます。このデバイスを通して、私たちはふだん身の回りで起こっている状況を、耳だけでなく、目や肌といった体全体でとらえていたことに気づくでしょう。
近年は音楽鑑賞の支援機器として、東京文化会館をはじめとしたコンサートホールで使用されています。

Touch the Sound Picnic is a device that proposes a new way of appreciating sound — through touch rather than hearing. Created under the concept “Exploring the world of sound through tactile sensations, regardless of hearing ability,” it aims to redefine how we listen broadly.
By allowing users to “touch” sound instead of relying on their ears, the experience invites reflection on the meaning and perception of sound itself.
Through this device, one becomes aware that we perceive the surrounding world not only with our ears, but also with our eyes, skin, and the entire body.
In recent years, it has also been used in concert halls such as Tokyo Bunka Kaikan as an assistive device for concert appreciation.
